Individual Age Groups – The NGYFL voted to implement an individual age group classification in the 7-Under, 8-Under, and 9-Under tackle age groups. The 5’s and 6’s will be combined as well as the 10’s and 11’s out of necessity. Individual age groups bring so many positives to your league because kids get to play against other kids their own age instead of playing against someone potentially a year older. Individual age groups also have a tendency to breed smaller teams of 14 – 22 players which allow kids to get more one-on-one attention from their coaches and more playing time. The league’s previous combined age group classification was 6-7, 8-9, and 10-11.

Adjusted Weight Limits – The NGYFL also voted to restructure the weight limits for advancing the football for the upcoming season. The weight limits are: 5/6 (65lbs), 7U (75lbs), 8U (85lbs), 9U (100lbs), and 10/11 (125lbs). The previous weight limits were 6/7 (85lbs), 8/9 (115lbs), and 10/11 (135lbs). Every kid who signs up to play in the NGYFL is eligible to play football.

Roster Size / Player Participation – The NGYFL’s goal is to field each team with 22 players; however, it is possible for a team to have 28 players before those players are split into two (2) equally drafted teams. The new player participation rule approved at the May 9^th organizational meeting states that each player must have a starting position and play the first two quarters of each game.

Points After Touchdown (PAT’s) – The league voted to award two (2) points for a successful legal forward pass conversion and one (1) point for a successful conversion run.

Important Dates – The Jamboree for the 2012 season will be hosted by Rock Spring Athletic Assoc. on Saturday, September 1^st at LaFayette High School. The regular season will begin on Saturday, September 8^th and Super Bowl III will be played Saturday, November 17^th. The All-Star game will be played Saturday, December 1^st. Check with your local rec. assoc. or city rec. dept for sign-up information.

Nominations should be submitted to Kathy Redman via email at kathy.redman@ringgoldyouth.com or via telephone at 815-762-2189.  Kathy will contact the nominated persons to confirm that they accept the nomination.  All names of accepted nominations will be on a pre-printed ballot.  The person does not need to be present at the election to run for the board per RYAA by-laws.

Each family is allowed one vote; a table will be set up for families to sign in. A child must have participated in our league within the last year (June 1-May 31) for a family to be eligible to vote.  Ballots will be distributed at 2:15pm and votes collected by 2:30pm.

Sports Commissioners–Baseball, Basketball, Cheerleading, Football, Soccer, Softball

The following positions will be appointed by the newly elected board in the June meeting: Treasurer (non-voting), Marketing Director, Assistant Marketing Director (non-voting).

You will also notice that we have 4 new sets of bleachers at the fields which will hopefully provide additional seating options.  Our goal is to raise enough money with our upcoming pre-season tournament to be able to purchase remaining bleachers for all fields.  Thanks to all the volunteers who worked hard putting them together and everyone for your patience and donations to make them possible.

The RYAA Softball Tournament will be Friday, March 30th through Thursday, April 5th

Registration Fees: Baseball (ages 5-12) - $100 for one, $190 for two, $280 for three.   Instructional Baseball (ages 3-4) - $50 per child (no multiple discounts).  Softball – $100 for one, $190 for two, $280 for three.  Soccer (ages 5 and up) - $80 for one, $150 for two, $220 for three.   Instructional Soccer (ages 3-4) - $50 per child (no multiple discounts).
